Nalanda: give without limits
"Nalanda means to give without limits. The group
plays compositions of Kaszás Péter. The base of this music is the
jazz but the repertory extends from drum' n bass to simplicity of
the children's songs. Even further. Without limits."
The Band was formed in 2004. november, by Péter
Kaszás. The members are the most hired musicians of the hungarian
jazz scene.
Miki Birta jazz - fusion guitarist, composer,
arranger, teacher. His first album came out in 1998 (Next
Generation), which is a trio album. Outside of his home country he
has had a number of performances and tours in New York , Florida,
Germany, Poland, England, Latvia, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, and
Italy. At home he has performed on albums or at concerts in Pál
Vasvári's project with: Mike Stern, Dave Samuels, Paco Sery, Henrik
Gembalski, and Jose Torres,in the Péter Szendofi solo projct with
Gary Willis, and the others projects with Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Tony
Lakatos. He performed on an album and at concert in Poland (also
with his own compositions) with the sax player Bill Evans, Steve
Logan, Cris Zawadzky, and Bernard Maseli. In 2004 he was a finalist
at the 50 years' Fender Stratocaster Europe Contest in England.
Zana Zoltán - saxophone He was born in 1976
in Halle, Germany. He studied clarinet in Béla Bartók Music School
Miskolc and he started to be interested in jazz on the influence of
a Chick Corea record. He graduated at the Jazz Department of Ferenc
Liszt University and in 1999 he won the first prize at "Dezso
Ablakos - Lakatos" Saxophone Competition. In this year he has
recorded his first c.d. with Kristóf Bacsó called "First Steps"
followed by his own bands first record called "Opposite Forces" with
Electric Jazz Force.
Bubenyák Zoltán - keys This young talent just
finished the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. His wide range of
interests made him the greatest promise of his generation.
Kolta Gergely - bassguitar He started playing
bass at age 15 influenced by Mark King, Marcus Miller, Anthony
Jackson, Johann Asmundsson and various pop artists. At age 17,
already a member of a local band with his classmates, he was
performing weekly at his hometown, Pécs. He had not taken formal
lessons until his 20s when after 2 years of studying bass and music
theory he was admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music,
Budapest. He earned his Teachers' and Performers' degree in 2001.
During his apprenticeship he lead a succesful pop career being a
member of a then chart leading Hungarian pop band 'United'. He left
the band in 2002 and has been a top call session player since then,
constantly working with renowned jazz, pop and fusion bands,
recording albums and perfroming weekly on stages and tv shows.
Kaszás Péter - drums He is the founder and
composer of Nalanda. He have been playing so many hungarian and
international musicians like Al di Meola or Davaid Golek. He also
perform international jazz festivals like : Montreux Jazz
Festival,Gronau Jazz Festival,Bratislava Jazz Festivaletc.
In spring of 2005 he received the Golden Drumstick
award.
